Tip of the Month Update Your Garden with Seasonal Colors Spring offers an array of bright colors to fill your gardens, adding life to any space. Add flowers like Blue Plumbago in organic soils to offer brilliant blues late summer through fall, Pentas for clusters of stars in pink, violet, red or white, or add the ever-blooming tropical shrub, Esperanza, for a splash of bright yellow and sweet fragrance all summer long. Flower of the Month Esperanza This drought-tolerant perennial shrub, also known as Tecoma stans, is native to South and Central America. Attracting bees, butterflies and hummingbirds, and growing best in warm climates makes this ornamental plant popular in many southern states. The bright golden-yellow, trumpet-shaped flower has several names including yellow trumpetbush, yellow elder, ginger-thomas, and finally Esperanza, which is Spanish for  hope. Esperanza, or Tecoma stans, is the official flower of the Virgin Islands and national flower of The Bahamas. For best results, plant the Esperanza in full sun with well-drained soil. Project of the Month St. Monica Catholic Church Complete Landsculpture recently designed and built a prayer garden to enhance the outdoor experience at St. Monica Catholic Church and School in Dallas, TX. With this project we took an existing space filled with unusable dirt and mud and transformed it into a beautiful and peaceful setting to enjoy outside the church. Accented with teak benches and a 3-tier fountain, you can see children enjoy this garden for reading and relaxing during and after class. We hope the space brings smiles for generations to come.
